I want to make sure that everyone is clear about the meaning of AKC LIMITED REGISTRATION and AKC FULL REGISTRATION.
AKC Limited Registration means that if you bred your dog, the puppies would NOT be able to get AKC papers--at all. The puppy will not be able to compete in AKC Confirmation Classes (because their goal is to determine the best breeding stock).
Limited Registered dogs CAN compete in Agility and Obedience trails. Basically it means that you intend for your dog to be a PET ONLY and do not EVER INTEND TO BREED with it. That is why I require that all puppies adopted with LIMITED AKC REGISTRATION be spayed or neutered by 12 months.
UNLESS you have spoken with me PRIOR to the sale of the puppy. If you are unsure if you want to show or breed in the future, I do sell SOME puppies with limited registration and allow the people until 2-3 years of age to see if they choose to breed or show.
If during that time you choose to breed or show, THE BREEDER must apply to AKC to get the Registation changed from LIMITED to FULL. The new owner CAN NOT DO THIS. At that time arrangements will need to be made to make up the price discount that was given for granting LIMITED REGISTATION. The purchaser would also be responsible for the AKC appication fee.
I CAN NOT GUARANTEE that the AKC will switch the papers from LIMITED TO FULL. IT IS AT THIER DISGRESSION .
IF you THINK YOU HAVE ANY SERIOUS DESIRE TO BREED OR SHOW YOUR PUPPY IN THE FUTURE IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU PURCHASE THE PUPPY WITH FULL REGISTRATION.
Their is a price difference in my puppies between FULL and LIMITED REGISTERED puppies. I look at it is a discount for people with Limited Registration, because they are agreeing to purchase the dog as a pet and not use it for breeding.
For most puppies I give the purchaser the option of Full or Limited Registration. Even though I would like to place my puppies in show homes if possible, I also value good pet homes. So unless it is an absolutly exceptional puppy--I will give the option of Limited Registration. For the few exceptional puppies though-- Limited Registration is NOT OFFERED. Those wishing to purchase the puppy, even as pet must pay full registration price.
Most of my puppies are Champion Sired and would be of breeding quality. However, some times there may be one or a few in a litter that have physical traits that I do not think should be passed down in the Boxer breed. These puppies MUST come with LIMITED REGISTRATION ONLY. They will not be given the option for show or breeding. This does NOT effect it's charecter or ability to be a WONDERFUL FAMILY PET.
